Intro

This page is temporary until I get the new one configured. The Python ISO8211 library provides read/write access to files in the ISO8211 format. ISO8211 is an international standard for GIS data, including SDTS, the format used by the US Geological Survey.

The library was originally developed by Tony J. Ibbs while he was working on the ISO8211 standards groups. He has since stopped working on it and I have picked up development on it. Many thanks to Tony not only for writing such a useful library, but also for contributing it to the world. My primary interest in the library is using it to import SDTS files fo manipulation and importation to GPS devices.
